Medicinal products are intended to heal, alleviate, cure diseases and taken with prescription. They are governed by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) under Drugs and Cosmetic Act. However, these products are intended to supplement the diet and taken without prescription except in few cases like products of Food for special dietary use and Food for Special Medical Purpose. These are governed by FSSAI under FSS Act, 2006.
