Food Safety and Standards Authority of India under Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, has been created for laying down science based standards for articles of food and to regulate their manufacture, storage, distribution, sale and import to ensure availability of safe and wholesome food for citizens of the country.
FSSAI has a network of food testing laboratories across the country and Food Testing laboratories are expected to play a major role in the areas of food quality & food safety testing to ensure food safety in the country.
"Capacity Building of Food Testing laboratories" initiative of FSSAI has been taken for continuous up gradation of the technical skills of food analysts and other laboratory staff by conducting regular National and International training programs. Detailed and comprehensive plan has been prepared to take the best practices and technology to our laboratories. This would make the laboratory personnel involved in testing and analysis to acquaint with latest analytical techniques and new methods.
The following basic to specialized training programs are being organized--
1. NABL Accreditation programs
2. Training on Good Food laboratory Practices
3. Specialized programs e.g. - Analysis of Pesticide Residues, Mycotoxins, Veterinary
Drug /Antibiotics residues etc.
In this regard,
- FSSAI intends to empanel Experts / Trainers for imparting knowledge, skill and aptitude to the laboratory personnel of Food Testing Laboratories by exposing them to the latest concepts, information and techniques and developing in them the skills required to ensure food safety.
- provide a common platform for interaction amongst National and International faculties and trainees.
