About Committee

FSSAI has established Scientific Committee and Panels who carry out scientificrisk assessments and develop related assessment methodologies. Presently there are 16 scientific panels with some expert working groups and the Chairperson of each panel is the member of scientific committee. The Scientific Committee is responsible for designing and proposing the research agenda and work programme as well as for overseeing the improvement of the approved projects. It also advises and assists the ongoing researches. The Scientific Committee provides the best available scientific information on food safety issues to FSSAI. In turn, the organization is obligated by the Convention to take full account of the recommendations and advice of the Scientific Committee in making its decisions.
