Apna Desh, Apna Vyanjan - Rediscovering our Culinary Heritage

Indian Food Culture

Indian Food Culture - Let bring the goodness back is a collaborative project by Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) along with other government organizations, celebrity chefs, food historians, columnists, food bloggers, and street food associations, to curate, share and popularize knowledge on Indian Food Culture and engage people to make more informed food choices.

The project aims at promoting regional cuisines and connecting people with their rich cultural past. The aim is to promote safe & wholesome food through our distinct culinary identity and connect people with their rich cultural past. The objective is to showcase and disseminate knowledge about our local culinary talents and heritage cuisines.

The key initiatives under this project are:

  1. Developing a National Recipe Archive: a national directory of local and regional food recipes.

  2. Creating standards and benchmarks for Clean Street Foods Hubs

  3. Regional Food Festivals

  4. Food trails

One of the very nicest things about life is the way we must regularly stop whatever we are doing in order to devote all our attention to eating.
No one cooks, cooks alone. A cook in the kitchen is surrounded by generations of cook past, the advice and menus of cooks present, the wisdom of recipe writers.
