Iodised salt producers can produce DFS with due modification in the existing production process of iodised salt. Salt used for production of DFS requires 98-99% purity, which is available in small quantities in a few pockets in Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, with a few producers in Rajasthan. More salt producers can produce DFS with improvements in technology of DFS production. Also, while iodisation is a continuous process, addition of iron is done by batch process. Production of DFS by continuous process, which is more economically viable, is being developed by some manufacturers.
