DFS has been designed for use in cooking and as table salt similar to iodised salt or common edible salt in terms of daily usage. Consumer acceptability tests have indicated that most consumers find DFS to be acceptable in terms of taste and colour. Sensory acceptability tests under typical household use, preservation and cooking practices in refugee camps and community feeding programs showed that DFS is largely accepted as an alternative to iodised salt.
