1General

1.    (1) These regulations may be called the Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Amendment Regulations, 2019.

       (2) They shall come into force on the date of their final publication in the Official gazette.

2.    In the Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Regulations, 2011 (hereinafter referred to as said regulation),

2Clause 4

(1)   in regulation 3.3, in sub-regulation 3.3.1, in clause 4, after item (xi), the following item shall be inserted, namely:-

"(xii) 4,5 epoxydec-2(trans)-enal"

3Appendix A, IV. USE OF FOOD ADDITIVES IN FOOD PRODUCTS, Table 1

(2) in Appendix A, under the heading “IV. USE OF FOOD ADDITIVES IN FOOD PRODUCTS”, -

(a) In Table 1,-

(i) against the entries relating to the Food Category System 1.6.2, in column (3), after the food additive “Propionic acid, sodium propionate, calcium propionate", the food additive “Pimaricin (Natamicin)” and the entries relating thereto in column (4), (5) and (6) shall be omitted;

(ii) against the entries relating to Food Category System 1.6.4.1 pertaining to Plain processed cheese/ processed cheese, processed cheese spread, against the food additive “Phosphates”, in column (6), for the entry “Total salt content should not exceed 9,000 mg/kg calculated as phosphorous/ carbonates/citrate/ chloride”, the  entry “33” shall be substituted;

(b) In Table 2,

(i) in Food Category System 2.1.2,-

(A) in column (2), for the Food Category Name “Vegetable oils and fats”, following shall be substituted, namely:-

         “Vegetable oils, fats and bakery shortenings”

 

(B) against the Food Additive “Lecithin” in column (4), for the entry “322 (i)”, the entries “322 (i), 322 (ii)”shall be substituted;

(C) in the column (3), for the entry “Monoglyceride citrate”, the entry  “Citric and fatty acid esters of glycerol” shall be substituted;

(D) against the food additive “Sodium Citrate” before  the entry “331(iii)”, the entry “331(i)” shall be inserted.

(E) after the food additive “THIODIPROPIONATES” and the entries relating thereto,  the following shall be inserted, namely:-

5Appendix A, IV. USE OF FOOD ADDITIVES IN FOOD PRODUCTS, Table 2, FCS 2.2.2

(ii) in food category system 2.2.2,-

(A) in column (2), for Food Category Name “Fat spreads, dairy fat spreads and blended spreads (margarine, bakery shortenings and fat spreads)”, following shall be substituted, namely:-

 “Fat spreads, dairy fat spreads and blended spreads (margarine and fat spreads)”

 

 (B) against the food additive “SORBATES”, in the column (5), for the entry “2,000 mg/kg”, the entry  “1,000 mg/kg” shall be substituted;

(C) against the food additive “ETHYLENE DIAMINE TETRA ACETATES (EDTA)” in the column (5), for the entry “100 mg/kg”, the entry  “50 mg/kg” shall be substituted;

(c) In Table 5, against the entries relating to food category system 5.3, against the food additive “Microcrystalline wax”, for the entries in column (3) to (6), the following entries shall be substituted, namely:-
