1. FSSAI through its Scientific Panel on Methods of Sampling and Analysis has a mandate to provide approved methods of analysis to be followed by the food testing laboratories. To this effect, the Panel provides manuals covering methods of test analysis (existing methods, revising old methods & newer methods). As on date, the Food Authority has considered and approved 13 manuals on methods of food analysis including Milk and Milk Products, Oils and Fats, Fruits and Vegetable products, Cereal and Cereal products, Water analysis, Meat and Meat products etc. based on the recommendations of the Panel (the link for these manuals: http://www.fssai.gov.in/home/food-testing/food-testing-manual.html). A few manuals including Alcoholic Beverages, Microbiological testing in food etc. are under review. A document on Good Food Laboratory Practices (GFLP) is also under consideration.
2. FSSAI has also initiated a scheme to provide mobile units for food testing to reach out to consumers through as many touch points as possible. The documents relating to the same are available at http://www.fssai.gov.in/home/food-testing/Food-Safety-on-Wheels.html
3. Consumer oriented documents for awareness regarding adulteration etc. are also available at http://www.fssai.gov.in/home/capacity-building/FSSAI-Books.html
